Church Council meeting tonight, 4:00, to work on our 2018 calendar

Merge Youth Weekend

This Friday thru Sunday

Merge is a youth weekend in the Trumann area with      several churches participating and a lot of teenagers!

Our youth group needs:

1) One more host home for about 5-7 teenage boys (teenage boys don’t have to have beds, they can sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor)

2) We could use some people who will help with breakfast food for our 3 host homes

If you will help in any way, see Aaron Riddle ASAP.

Widow/widower lunch next Sunday. This lunch is always a ministry of our Ladies Life Group, but this time we are inviting the whole church for a potluck lunch next  Sunday in our gym

Merge Youth Weekend

January 19-21

Merge is a youth weekend in the Trumann area with      several churches participating and a lot of teenagers!

Our youth group needs:

1) Host homes. We have a host home for our girls, we need at least 2 host homes for our boys (5-10 boys each home?)

2) Group leaders who teach and spend time with their group all weekend. We have a leader for our girls, we need at least 2 leaders for our boy’s groups.

3) Volunteers to help cook supper for the whole Merge group on Saturday night in our gym. We have the food, we need the workers.

No worship service this evening. Next Sunday night will be our annual open house at our parsonage. Drop in from 4:00-??

Thank you to everyone who helped with our annual Christmas meal. We served 933 meals and easily had the most volunteers ever.

Business meeting this Wednesday night, 6:00, in our youth room.  Agenda: 1) Choose delegates to our Arkansas Association meeting. 2) Choose delegates to our national General Association meeting.  3) Approve our pastor’s pay package (IRS requirement) 4) Raises for our ministry staff.

Also this Wednesday: Our adult Wednesday night group will be  feeding our children’s ministry. Because of the cold we will eat in our youth room with our youth group

We will be taking down the Christmas tree in our foyer sometime this week. If you put a cross on the tree and would like to keep it at your house, please take it off the tree soon. Otherwise we will box up all the remaining crosses and keep them until next Christmas.

Board meeting tonight, 4:00 (last chance to have one this year)

Our Wednesday night grade school children have painted Christmas door hangers to be given to residents at the Trumann nursing and rehab—Arlington Cove. They will be taking the hangers there this Wednesday night and will be caroling there also. Everyone is welcome to come and help, we will leave our church at 6:30. See Amy Fisher for more info.

Our Wednesday night groups will not meet this Wednesday night and     December 27 (caroling this Wednesday night, youth group leaves for     conference the 27th)

If you want to help cut up meat for the Christmas meal, be at Couch’s BBQ, 5:30-6:00, this Thursday night. See Daniel Miller for more info.

If you are making dressing there is dressing mix available in our foyer and the pans are next to the dressing (2 small pans equal 1 large pan)  We only need hams donated this year, take those to Couch’s BBQ by this Wed. If you would rather give money, see Lindsay Miller. If you want to help that day we need:  people in the kitchen, food servers, delivery help, clean up help, etc., be at the Sports Complex by around 10:00 to help

Ladies Life Group Christmas party tonight after our worship         service—6:00ish—at Kathy Byrd’s home. This is pot luck with a $10 gift exchange.

Our grade school children will have a paint party this Wednesday night to paint door hangers for residents at Trumann’s nursing and rehab center-Arlington Cove.  We will soon announce a date we will deliver the door hangers and go caroling at the home. Everyone in our church is welcome to go with us...watch for the date.

Community Christmas Dinner will be Christmas day, 11:00-1:00 at the Trumann Sports Complex. We have 1 pan of dressing left to be signed up for on our bulletin board. There is dressing mix available in our foyer, take as much as you need. We only need hams donated this year, take those to Couch’s BBQ by December 20. Trumann community Thanksgiving service will be this Tuesday, 7:00pm at the Healing Hands Community church—at their new location, just west of where they used to be on West Main Extended, in the old Trumann Missionary Baptist church building.  Rev Jim Duffel, pastor at Maple Grove Baptist will be preaching.

Our youth group is selling Chic-fil-A calendars for $10 to raise money for their youth conference in December. The calendar has a gift card on the back to be used each month to buy Chic-Fil-A’s offer of the month. See Aaron Riddle or any of our teenagers to buy a calendar...it will change your life!

Harvest Day—Next Sunday

Food — we have a sign up sheet on our bulletin board if you will help with food for lunch. Our church buys the meat but we need volunteers to cook it, see Peggy Wright if you will help.

Tables — we have 5 tables left to decorate, please sign up on our       bulletin board

10:00 — special service in our sanctuary, no Sunday school that day

11:00 — former pastor Royce and Joanne Schanda will be with us in our sanctuary

12:00ish — lunch in our gym

Harvest Offering: Our special Harvest Day offering is used for our building fund, most of which is used to pay our annual building insurance premium in December. This year we will pay the annual premium and then begin planning and saving toward a new metal roof for our buildings.

Trunk or Treat for grade school children will be tonight, 5:00-6:30.

~We will eat a light meal in our gym to begin (5:30)

~All the trunk or treating events will then be in our front parking lot. We ask all those who are not doing an event to please park to the back half (west) of our parking lot.

~You can still sign up on our bulletin board if you want to do some type of game/activity using your trunk, tailgate, etc.      Everyone is supplying their own treats being handed out.

~After the grade school children have left, our youth group will have their own hay ride and bonfire. All Jr and Sr high students are welcome.

Our Wednesday night adult group will be feeding our children’s ministry this Wednesday night.

Also: a financial statement for October will be available.

Our next big event will be our annual Harvest Day: Sunday,   November 19. There will be a sign up sheet on our bulletin board for everyone who wants to help with food for lunch that day—our church pays for the meat but we need people to volunteer to cook it—and a sign up sheet to help decorate 15 round tables. We will have a special service at 10:00 instead of Sunday School and Rev Royce and Joanne Schanda will be with us at our 11:00 service.

We will have food, a bounce house, games, prizes and all kinds of things in trunks and pickup beds, etc.  Please sign up on our bulletin board if you are going to use your car trunk; SUV/mini van; tailgate; trailer/farm  wagon; or any other creative idea. We also need lots of miniature pumpkins donated, you can leave those in the box in our foyer under the bulletin board.  Children are encouraged to wear a costume, but we are trying to stay away from witches, goblins and such.  See Amy Fisher with any questions—she is recuperating at home but you can call her, 870-219-4431.

Reminder for our Wednesday night adult group that this is the 3rd Wednesday night.

Tailgate worship service next Sunday night in the yard and around the oak trees north of our sanctuary. We will start eating around 5:00, outdoor worship at 6:00 (notice the difference from our usual worship time) Meal is potluck, we will have a grill and bon fire burning if you have something you want to cook. Church will supply the cups, plates, etc. Bring a tailgate, chair, blanket...

Urgent need: Amy Fisher will be unable to teach our Wednesday night grade school group of students for the month of  October because of a medical issue—she will be back after     October. We need someone to step up and help with our   Wednesday night grade school students on October 11 and 25. This amounts to teaching about a 20 minute prepared lesson with a video intro, to about 12 students. See Amy ASAP if you will help with this temporary ministry.
 
Our Wednesday night adult group will be feeding our children’s ministry this Wednesday night.
Also: a financial statement for September will be available.

We will have the tailgate service when the weather cools off a little more, we may have the chili cook off before the end of the year or may wait till right after the first of the year? We’ll be announcing them both.

See You At The Pole student prayer event will be this Wednesday at the Trumann high school and intermediate school flag poles at 7:00am. Adults who want to support the students can gather at the property where Healing Hands church used to meet, across from the high school; and the Methodist church across from the intermediate school.
Also: there will be a Saw You At The Pole student rally at the First Baptist church in Lepanto, beginning at 6:15.
Our Jr and high school students will be going to this student rally so they will not be meeting at our church this Wednesday night.

Florida Relief:

Charles Richardson, pastor at Hitts Chapel GB church in Piggott, is filling a trailer of hurricane relief items for people in Florida. He will leave for Benita Springs, FL when the trailer is full, maybe this week? They can use almost anything you can imagine, that is non perishable. Please leave anything you want to donate in our youth room kitchen, the door to our youth room will be unlocked all day, every day this week.

Spaghetti supper and silent auction this Saturday night in our gym.  Supper at 6:00,  auction at 7:00. Tickets for the supper are $10.00, see Aaron Riddle to purchase yours (870-897-8056) We  have a sign up sheet on our  bulletin board if you would like to  contribute desserts, and/or drinks for the meal.  We will also  auction off new and used items, baked items, homemade crafts...anything that will sell! Please put all items to be          auctioned on the stage in our gym and a note with the items with your name on it will be helpful.  See Aaron for more   information. All of the  money raised that night will go toward a youth conference our group is  attending in December.

Our Sunday school starts a new year next Sunday with some of our school age students moving up to the next class. Thank you to all our Sunday school teachers and workers for all your faithful work last year. Sunday school is a very    important teaching arm of our ministry.

Ladies Life Group meets tonight, at our church, after our     evening worship service.

 

Wedding shower for Cecilia Moye and Jamie Lyons: next Sunday, 2:00 in our gym. They are registered at Wal Mart, Checkerboard and Target.

Youth Camp Info:

~July 24-28

~Our biggest need for helpers is dorm dads (maybe some men could work together and each take a night?) and someone to help with crafts

~Our church is responsible for kitchen help on Tuesday, helping with lunch and supper. We also need to supply packaged snacks — things that don’t melt in the heat, no chips, no peanuts in the ingredients. You can leave any snacks you donate in our entry

~We need sponsors to help pay the $50.00 camp fee for campers who can’t afford it. See Lynda Sadler

~There are camp T-shirt forms on our entry table is you want to buy one.
